So many of us are outraged by the baseless shootings of Renee Good and Alexis Pretti, two peaceful observers of ICE and CBP activities in Minneapolis. The indiscriminate arresting and deportation of innocent and hard-working immigrants by masked agents of the federal government is reminiscent of dangerous fascist regimes throughout history. Explanations of these shootings by government officials belie the evidence documented by brave bystanders who made videos of these shootings. We are witnessing a form of terrorism by our own national government. We stand with our sisters and brothers in Minneapolis in denouncing these events. Right now, many of us are experiencing emotional pain about what is happening in our country, but not everybody feels the same degree of intensity. Some people are scared. Some people are really scared. Some people are so scared that they can’t even admit that they’re scared. Many of us feel traumatized. We all see the same videos. How can that be true? How is it that we all don’t feel the same intensity of emotions? How can that come about? If you would like to have a place to safely and supportively share some of your thoughts and feelings regarding how you have been impacted by what our country is going through, and along the way, begin to understand the answers to those questions, then… Join our Zoom meeting on Sunday, February 1 at 4-6 PM. This workshop will be presented by John Anthony Bochnowicz, Director of Supportive Alliance and Barbara Simmons, Director of the Peace Center.
